I really am a sucker for freebies & cheapies; this time 'round it was for a three month magazine subscription to Fast Bikes for £3 which was offered thru' my email. The same email offered a 6 pound discount for the June 2008 Bike Fest down at Donnington Park, which I might just hold out for; you never know, I could get lucky and get them for free!

While at the London Bike Show, I happened across this futuristic looking beastie:

Well, all Bitish bikers know full well what the Ace is, it's a bikers' cafe down on the North Circular, a few moments from that hideous Ikea. Here's a write up from myvillage.com:

"The Ace Cafe became famous in the 1960s as a meeting point for bikers, the so-called ’ton-up’ boys who raced at high speed along the North Circular Road. Now it’s been refurbished as a shrine to bikers and the golden era of the ’ton up’ boys, with a friendly atmosphere, events and live rock n’ roll gigs.

At the Ace Cafe, they welcome all who share their passion. A passion, based upon the authentic roots of motorbikes and rock n’ roll.

The new café has been devised, designed and built by riders and fellow petrolheads, and invites visitors to make the most of the facilities and activities to ensure its history lives on. So, not just for bikers then. If you fancy a bit o' rock 'n' roll, Polish beer, decent greasy-spoon grub or a gander at whatever's on show, (we've had Subaru Imprezzas, Old Fords and Custom Bikes, to name but a few) then the Ace is worth popping down to.

Oh, and they do a gorgeous leather jacket, with all the accessories...

Unless you've already visited the site, here's how you get there:

Vines is located in Guildford Surrey, just off the A320 Woking Road. Slyfield Green.

From Junction 10 on the M25, take Guildford Exit from A3 and follow signs 320 Woking, over 3 Roundabouts then right at the traffic lights.

They'll both be available to try out down at Vines of Guildford this Saturday the 8th of March! I think it starts around 10-ish, and if you bring both parts of your license and a credit card (for the insurance) you can rideout on a BMW test bike. They won't actually make a transaction on the credit card by the way, it is only a precaution should you drop the bike; then the excess on the insurance is £500!

I don't really think I have the "biker mentality". I am someone who generally plays things safe. My hobbies include playing bridge and bowls - these are sports/hobbies usually associated with retired personages!

I actually joined this group slightly under false pretences... I was drawn in by the Ace Cafe sign and thought to myself: "hmm, could be a nice kind of atmos for tea and crumpet (or coffee and muffin, even).

Anyway, good luck with this web-venture. I will hang around for a few days but will probably leave your numbers as soon as you have some numbers to leave!

The number of times I have met Tobbot, is one; which is one more number than most UK Bloggers have met him!
